I purposefully went back to learn more of Nirvana’s In Bloom. I did pretty well; the rhythm section is somewhat straightforward. I keep going back in order to try and master the lead though. You play one rhythm bit 8 times, a second rhythm bit 8 times, the first again 4 times, then the second 4 times, then the lead 3 times, then back to rhythm 8, 8, 4, 4. So sure, I’m getting much better playing rhythm but I’d like to break out just the lead bit and practice it a bit by itself.
From a score bit, 70,000 points is the next plateau. 34,000 points was needed in order to trigger the event. 100,000 points are needed to “Master” the song. I reached 67,000 points this afternoon so I’m getting there 🙂
My lesson with Zack was this afternoon. I brought up the palm muting issue I was having with the game. He suggested I was too far away from the bridge. I should put my palm on the bridge and then move off gradually until I have a muted sound, not a dead string sound. Good lesson tonight. I’ll be checking it out next time I play “I Can’t Hear You” from ‘Dead Weather’.
I’m also noticing that I am getting faster switching between chords now. Going from E to D and C to Am is moving along. Zack also wants me to throw in Bm Barre when I can. There’s a Barre Techniques bit in Rocksmith. I’ll have to check it out too 🙂
